Organization

Well we are back to organization. I am pleased to announce that I have a desk. I pretty one at that. My father in law made it for my husband and I while we were in Texas and my office/craft room has the perfect spot for it, so I get to keep the desk.  I have a spot in the floor that is clean and a walkway from the desk to the door.  No pictures at this time.  I want to wait until I am a little further to add a picture. Maybe next time.  The scrapbooking side has been cleaned.  The desk has items that need to be filed which I plan to work today once it starts raining.  I would like to work outside until then.  I need to work on the Bible class items side. This side is a little more to work on but I have filling drawers in the garage that most of this belongs in so I do have a plan for that.

Oohy-Gooey Bars

Oohy-Gooey Bars

Ingredients:

1 yellow cake mix                                                        3 eggs

1 stick margarine (melted)                                         1 box confection sugar

8 oz. cream cheese (softened)                                  cake pan

Bottom layer:

Mix yellow cake mix, one egg, and melted butter. (I melt my butter in the cake pan, and then I don’t have to spray the pan with Pam). This mixture will be very thick and gooey. You will need to use the bottom of a spoon or your fingers to spread the mixture across the bottom of the pan.

 Top layer:

With a mixer beat cream cheese and two eggs together until smooth. Gradually add confection sugar to the mixture. Once everything is mixed well, spread mixture over the bottom layer.  Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes. Cool before cutting.

Life of Christ Review Game for ages 2-5 year old class

I finally finished the review game that I thought up based on the game Candyland.  I needed a review for the 2-5 year old class that was age appropriate. So, I decided to make my own for the teachers to use. This game was quite simple to make now that I have finished a little time consuming when you include coloring but I think it turned out well personally.

Directions:
1 piece of poster board
4 different colors of cardstock (you can use more if you would like)

Pictures from different areas of the Life of Jesus ( I chose his birth, Good Samaritan for parables, healing blind man for miracles, picture of Jesus beside tomb for death, burial, and resurrection, and a Bible school teacher and children for the church, and a piece of gold with the word Heaven)

The squares are 2x2 size. The white card pieces are 1 3/4 x 3 with a 1 x 1 or so piece or two pieces. These are the space movers. There are also space movers that have a small colored square and one of the activity pieces on it so they can move to that space. There is a card for each space on the board.

Also, on the board are certain activities for instance: sing Jesus Loves Me, Sing the B-I-B-L-E, You told a parable to a friend so move ahead 3 spaces, then the third space says Tell a friend your favorite parable, then there is one that says You gained your sight so search for the lost coin, etc. ( you get the idea, whatever you studied that quarter).

The character pieces are 2x2 size of the different colors and I only made 8 but you can make as many as you would like. Then I just used clip art pieces from different pieces of the Life of Christ.

Hope you enjoy!

The Bookshelf - No Greater Joy

             No Greater Joy
             Sheila Keckler Butt

This book emphasizes the awesome responsibility God given to mothers who are uniquely qualified to fulfill this role. It is full of personal illustrations and practical suggestions for raising children who will bring “no greater joy.”

There is no career more challenging or more rewarding than being a mother to the glory of God. This study is intended to be an inspiration and a springboard for one’s growth as a Christian mother. The last chapter is written woman to woman, discussing how to be the wife of a happy husband within God’s institution of marriage.

TLC for Children

Children need a lot of T.L.C., and God has planned for parents to provide it for them. Parents have the awesome task of teaching an uncoordinated, self-centered, helpless infant to be self-sufficient, loving and considerate of others. Parents love, teach, praise, discipline, worry about, and make sacrifices for their children; and then comes the hard part: letting them go (Although someone once said the reason God made teenagers was so parents would be willing to let them go!).

We usually think of T.L.C. as Tender, Loving, Care and certainly children need a lot of it.  Titus 2:4 teaches that women should love their children. Love is more than words and hugs, although they are certainly a part of it.  Proverbs 13:24 says, “He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.” Proverbs 29:15 says, “A child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame.” T.L.C. for children means many things.

T.L.C. could stand for Train Little Children. God puts the burden of teaching or training children upon parents. Secular schools and Bible schools have a part in teaching, but the primary responsibility is upon parents. Training is the process of helping a child learn to discipline himself. Any child can be sweet and lovable when everything is going his way.  The true test comes when he
is told he may not have or do something. Typically a small child will cry or throw a temper tantrum, and that is perfectly normal.  That is, it is normal for  a small child. Parents have the job of helping their child learn to accept the fact that he cannot always have his own way.  A child who never learns this will grow into an adult who always insists on his own way. This type of person is not only obnoxious to associate with, but worse, he will have little chance of going to heaven. God has set rules for us to follow and in order to go to heaven, we must live our lives God’s way, by God’s rules, not according to our own desires.  A child who learns at an early age to submit to parents, will find it much easier at an older age to submit to God.
Another T.L.C. for parents could be Talk, Listen, and Communicate. Communication is vital in any relationship and is usually accomplished by talking and listening. Both should be done in proper amounts. Parents should not do all the talking with no regard for a child’s feelings, but neither should they do all the listening and allow the child to set the rules. Helping children to develop good judgment requires years of talking and listening.
Parents must also teach their children To Love Christ. Without a deep love and respect for Christ and His Word, there is no hope for either our children or for us to go to heaven. “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind” (Matt.22:37). Another important T.L.C. for our children, is to teach them To Live Contentedly. Our world is full of toys suitable for any age from the battery powered, musical cradle to the climate controlled sports car with heads-up display, TV and on-board driving directions. All of these toys are fun, but few in this world have the means to indulge in all of them.  Paul said he had learned “in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content” (Phil. 4:11). Children-and parents-need to learn to be content with what the parents can afford. Happiness is not about “things”.
Giving children T.L.C. does not mean indulgence. It means loving them enough to help them be all they can be in service to God. It means using a correct balance between gentleness and harshness, just as God uses the correct balance with His children. “Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off” (Rom.11:22).

Daily Bible Reading - FEBRUARY

Here is the February Daily Bible Reading. If you need to catch up with the reading because I didnt' get it posted like I should then you can read February's reading the same time you read the reading from March. The March reading is already scheduled for daily reading.  It should post each day.

LOVE

The Bible is a wonderful book of love.  The entire Bible is based on the love of God.  God created man because He loved us.  God created a plan of salvation because He loved us.  God created the Bible because He loved us.  God gave us specific books and chapters in the Bible to help us with understanding and showing our love to Him, to our spouses, to our children, to our family, friends, neighbors and enemies.

The book Song of Solomon is a love letter from a husband to his wife.  God created woman for man so he would not be  alone and that he would have a suitable help meet (Gen 2).

First Corinthians thirteen is the greatest chapter on love penned by Paul.  I ask you to read chapter 13 first then go back and read it again inserting your name in the place of charity/love.  This is what this chapter is all about.
The first three verses teach us that everything we do should be in love, without it nothing else matters.  Verses 4-8 define the word charity/love and teach us how to love.  Verses 9-13 teach us how to grow in charity/love.
Love however is ever lasting.  Love will never pass away.  Love is always needed every day.  Love for God. Love for spouse. Love for children. Love for friends. Love for the church. Love for neighbors. Love for enemies.  Love for the lost.
Faith, hope, and love abideth. As all else passes away, these three will abide forever. Faith is personal. Our faith will get us to Heaven. “Faith is no longer faith when it is seen. One day when the Christian finds himself in the presence of God, faith will be replaced by sight.”43
Hope is for an eternal home with God based on our personal faith. Our hope of Heaven comforts us in knowing there is a Heaven and that if we remain faithful we will go to Heaven. “Hope is no longer hope when it is fulfilled. One day in heaven all the hopes and dreams of Christians will turn to reality.”44
Love is now and forever.  Love is outward. Love is acted upon others. Love is the greatest because “God is love”(I Joh. 4:8).    Our love sustains us while on earth and while in Heaven. “Why is love greater than either faith or hope? Both faith and hope will last until the end of time. Yet each of them are but steps toward the gates of the city foursquare. Love reaches beyond those gates and into the eternal city itself. The perfect law will have led men to prepare to meet the perfect Christ in a perfect home.”43
Paul’s teaching on love is one that every Christian needs to learn.  Love is of God.  Love is for others.  Love thinks about others first and themselves last.  Love puts God and the church in the forefront of his mind so as not to damage any Christian.  Love looks out for each other. Love teaches others about Christ and His church to save the lost so they can have the greatest of the Christian graces: love.  Love that abides forever.

Postings

Well, I see now that I have not posted the February bulletin and here it is time for the March.  As well as the daily Bible Readings. I will get everything posted over the weekend and set back up. I got busy with Friends and Family Day and Bible Class curriculum and didn't get things on the blog. Sorry about that.  I will have a few postings when I finish the Bible Class curriculum this month.
