Layered Flowers Blog Hop

If you are coming from Michelle's Blog, you are on the right track! This technique is highlighted with the Sophia paper packet in the Idea Book but you will find variations for its’ use through this hop.

Please excuse the different backgrounds I am still trying to find the best background and lighting for pictures.  This is a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 card.  My technique is a little different from the one found in the book but it has all the same principles.  I actually used a tree stamp to make the flower. I cut off the the stem.  I stamped the tree in two different colors (one light and one dark). Then I cut around them cutting off the stem.  I layered the lighter shade on top of the dark shade.  I trimmed the lighter shade to a slightly smaller size and rolled the edges up.  I also layered the center with a smaller size flower the same way with the two different shades and then rolled the edges as well.  I topped the center flower with the Irresistables chipboard and an opaque.

The steps to Layered Flowers are:

1. Stamp base image in one color and outline in another (if applicable to stamp selected). Repeat on another piece of cardstock.
2. Trim first image around all outer images. Trim second image, cutting out portions of the flower (to create the layered effect).
3. Curl ends of petals on second image and adhere on top of first image. Layer mixtures of stamped accent and embellishments to finish.

Stamp of the Month

This is a 6x6 card made using the April stamp of the month and the Sweetheart paper pack and the Sweetheart embellishments.  I also used the how to book Originals for the pattern to the 6x6 card.

Spring Fever

Hello Everyone!

Are you having spring fever? I am for sure.  I have been enjoying this wonderful weather.  This past Monday church friends came over and plowed my garden spot.  Tuesday I was in the garden working and starting working on the rows this morning.  I will have 12 rows total.  I keep making lists and adding and changing to what I would like to plant.  When I get finished I will post pictures.  I am really excited about planting and picking and hopefully learning all of the ins and outs of gardening.  Gardening reminds me of when I was younger and my Daddy was working in his garden.  I would ride on the tractor with him from my Grandparents house and I would get to stear the wheel while he drove.  I remember walking behind him while he was tilling the rows with his tiller and stepping in his big shoe prints.  Then I would help him plant the seeds.  My brother and I also helped my mom shell beans.  We would have a certain stack and a bowl and would have them shelled and picked before she got home from work.  Purple hull peas were my favorite.  It wasn't summer if you didn't go to Sunday morning church services with purple fingers.  How about you?  I would love to hear of your gardening favorites and stories.  Post a comment....

Contrast Embossing Blog Hop

The Boom card is a 4 1/2 x 4 1/2 size card that I created using the Wishes how to program.  This card is made using the Boom stamp set and Gold Embossing powder.  I love the brightness of the gold on the pacifica blue stamp ink. I also used the godl embossing powder on the magnifique in the corners to add a little embellishment and brightness to the dark blue. 

The Love card is made from the Originals how to program. This is 5x7 card and is kept simple because I used it as my 12th Anniversary card to my husband. I added just a little of the Sweetheart assortment to give it a little oomph with the white embossing powder.  I wanted this card to look a little more manly even with the heart.

The steps to Contrast Embossing are:

1. Stamp background image on project.

2. Stamp additional images in Versamark ink. Sprinkle with contrasting color of embossing powder.

3. Tap off excess powder. Set with craft heater.

March Stamp of the Month - Sensational Seasons

Hi Everyone!

Today is March 1 and that means that it is time for a new stamp of the month. This month the stamp of the month features very cute bunnies and a basket of eggs. This will be great for your spring cards and all of those eggs your children will be hunting.

I have posted a few cards and a layout I made using this month's stamp of the month.  Sorry if some are blurry, I am still trying to figure out the best angles and such in making pictures.

Busy Days

Wow!  That is all I can say. We have been so busy lately.  Rebekah's 11th birthday was the 6th of February.  We had her party on the 5th.  We also had a death in our congregation on the 2nd. The youth group just hosted a Senior Saints Valentine's Banquet last night. They were still talking about it today.  Everyone in attendance had a good time. Today was a normal Sunday.  We had our Tabitha class this afternoon where we made cards for members in our congregation. The girls really like making the cards. This weekend hubby will be in Texas speaking on a lectureship and the girls and I will be here enjoying ourselves.

I will try and get back to creating and posting this week. That is the great thing about this business. When life happens I can take a break and then pick back up.
